Deciding What Colors of Hats to Wear?

1. The Brown Hat

Complexion:  Brown Hats look better with ruddy (approaching redness) and dark complexions; and with auburn, sandy and red hair. Brown hats are also acceptable, with any color hair, although not particular good with gray hair. The brown hat is acceptable with all complexions except the slightly pale olive. Dark brown hats are also acceptable with healthy olive complexion.

Clothing:  Brown Hats are best worn with brown or green suits and coats. Dark Brown hats are acceptable with dark gray and dark blue suits. In medium and lighter tones, brown-blue, and brown-gray combinations should be avoided.

Clothing Accessories:  When contrasting brown hats you could use clothing accesories such as yellows, blues, dark greens, and wine colors; they add richness to a brown hat. A brown hat with a yellow scarf is especially attractive. Light brown accessories go well with dark brown hats; as do dark brown accessories with light brown hats .

2. The Green Hat

Complexion:  Green Hats look better with healthy complexioned gray-haired, blonde, and brown haired men. Dark green hats also look good with healthy olive complexion. Green Hats are also acceptable with any healthy complexion, and with any color hair. Emphasizes red hair. The green hat is not recommended with pale complexions.

Clothing:  Green Hats are most attractive with brown, or tan suits and coats. Naturally good with green suits. Green Hats top off light gray, and medium gray suits and coats very pleasingly. They are also acceptable with dark gray and black.

Clothing Accessories:  It is recommended to repeat green tones in clothing accessories with green hats. Brown, or brownish yellow colored ties and shirts are also good. A black and white patterned tie or scarf is pleasing. With a dark green hat, daring contrasts can be secured with tasteful touches of mulberry, or pale yellow.

3. The Blue Hat

Complexion:  Blue Hats look best with blue eyes; and with ruddy, and light flushed complexions. Blue Hats are also acceptable with any color hair. Blue Hats have the tendency to emphasize red hair. Dark blue Hats are acceptable with slightly pale complexions.

Clothing:  Blue Hats are best with blue or gray clothing. Blue hats must not "clash" with blue suits. Match tones closely or contrast dark blue hats with lighter blue suit, or vice-versa. Blue hats are also acceptable with neutral brown, and tan suits.

Clothing Accessories:  Blue shirts, ties, or scarfs goes very well with a blue hat. Gray or neutral brown clothing accessories also makes a pleasing effect with the blue hats. When decided contrast between blue hats and clothing accessories is desired, yellows, and wine colors are especially good.
